Love In Action is looking for the best team who exemplifies putting their leadership and love in action for our cause this year: funding a micro-surgical eyecamp in Tibet.

Be creative, think outside the box and raise money for a great cause and your chance to win a free trip to Peru from Gap Adventures.

HOW to Enter

  • • Decide who your team is (Must be 3 people in a team)
  • • Pick a name for your team and make sure all team members qualify (link to contest page to section that says “who can enter”)
  • • Register yourself and your team (MUST be Team of 3 people) by February 23, 6PM EST
  • • Create a fun, original way to execute your "Love In Action" and raise money for our cause
  • • Show us how you put your love in Action and submit your ENTRY by March 12, 6pm EST.
  • Download the Love in Action logos
  • Your complete entry will have the following:
  • 1 x Complete Registration form with all 3 team members names, contacts, team name
  • 1 x Jpg. picture that represents Love In Action for you and your team
  • 1 x 2 sentence description of your project
  • 1 x 2 minute video of what you and your team did to put your love in action. Be sure to film your event! You can post your video or Youtube or Vimeo and put the link on your team’s page on the contest site.
  • Total Amount Raised
  • 1 Paragraph (500 words max.) answer to the question: What is sustainability, and what can be done to promote more sustainable development in countries like Tibet and Peru?
  • Confirmation that each team member meets contest entry criteria (valid passport, Canadian Citizen, 18+, no criminal record allowing travel to and from Peru, not a Gap or Planeterra Employee, etc.)

Who can enter

  • Teams must have 3 members. If your team wins, all 3 will win the grand prize
  • All team members must be Canadian citizens
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have valid passports and be clear to travel internationally until January 2011 (no criminal record)
  • If winner submission does NOT meet the above criteria, Love In Action, Gap Adventures and Planeterra have the right to revoke contest prize
  • Employees of Gap Adventures and Planeterra are invited to participate, but are not eligible to win the prize

Prize

A free voluntour trip for three people in Peru with Gap Adventures with airfare included. Trip offered will be Project Peru, Gap Adventures trip code SPPJ. Trip is an 11-day adventure that starts in Lima and ends in Cuzco. This trip includes Lima, Cuzco, the famous 4-day Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu, The Sacred Valley, a community homestay, and two days of volunteering at a Planeterra project in a remote village in Peru.

Should a team member not be eligible to travel, the prize is NON-transferrable nor can be cashed for any monetary return in substitution.


Projects/ Fund Raising Ideas

Projects can be anything ranging from planning an event or concert, to a bake-sale or car-wash, or something original and creative that we haven’t thought of yet! Showing creativity and personality has much more value in this contest than a check from a rich relative.

You can register your team and project by clicking on the register button on the Love in Action website. Once you have registered your team, you can make your team’s donation from the contest page, and you can also accept donations for your team online.

Judging Criteria

The winning team will be selected by a panel of judges from Planeterra, Gap Adventures and Love In Action. Their decision will be based on the success of the campaign, originality, awareness raised, and donations generated, and overall creativity. While a successful campaign should generate a higher donation, more emphasis is placed on the showing of creativity, leadership and spreading ideas.

Video submissions: Put together a 1-2 minute video about your team and project. Upload that video to Youtube or Vimeo and include the link to your video on the submission form. All entries will be posted on the Love in Action website.

You don’t have to be Steven Spielberg, but your video should show us what your project was, who your team members are, how you put your love in action and what your results were. Most importantly, let your personalities shine! This is your chance to showcase what you and your team did!

Selection Process

All submissions will be reviewed by the Love In Action, Planeterra and Gap Adventures Team. The 3 top projects/submissions will be contacted and profiled at the Love In Action event. The 3 groups will present their picture, their 2 minute video to the Love In Action guests and a celebrity judge panel.

The winning team will be announced at the Love In Action Party on March 17, 2010. All entrants are invited!
